Sandy Damon: Artist

and Director of Arts4Giving

Sandy Damon is a painter / storyteller who studied art at Middlesex University. She has had numerous group and solo shows but enjoys collaborating on projects with artists working in a medium other than painting, for example dancers, musicians, poets, potters, filmmakers etc.

"Painting is a very solitary experience which I love - but it is also really wonderful to share and be inspired by the vision of other artists."

The speaking voice, sound or rhythm are often inspirational in the initial visualisation of Sandy's paintings.  In a solo show, 'The Sketchbook Exhibition' in 2004, she collaborated with three musician/composers, stretching the conventional boundaries of painting.  On completion of each 'sketch' she incorporated sound with colour, the final pieces making a moving image screened with light and stereo effect.

Sandy works mainly in oils on canvas - collage and prints.

In 2013, she founded the group Arts4Giving, a platform for artists who share in her passion to support charitable causes through the sale of their art.

The inaugural seven day exhibition ASPIRE in September 2014 at the Avangarde Gallery in St Johns Wood, London, raised money to support The Terry's Trust, The Koestler Trust, The Prem Rawat Foundation and Shape Arts.

As an Arts4Giving artist 20% of the sale price of Sandy's work goes to a charity of the buyer's choice.

Sandy has also published an illustrated children's book, The Pearl of Erst and a 2014 Diary of her artwork combined with inspirational quotes.

During Covid years Sandy started a fundraising children's story book competition. - Supported by Austin Macauley Publishers
